Selfie:
Spring Smiles
The reason I named my photograph the way that I did, was because the main thing that I am trying to convey is happiness and sunshine. I took these photos on a bright sunny day, and I took them both outside with the main focus being nature. Besides my selfie, the first photo that I used is a picture that I took in my front yard looking into a big pine tree that we have. I was standing underneath the tree with the lens facing up into the branches, and I made sure to line it up so that the sun was relevant in the photo for lighting and stylistic purposes. I wanted to give off a natural feel with this photo, as well as giving a happy feeling with the sun. The second photo that I used was a close up of a goose on the river that I took at Gallup Park the same day. I zoomed in onto the goose, so that I could not only see it's detail, but so that I could see the ripples that were created in the water as it continued to swim. The mood intention for this image was to give off a calming feeling, as well as a sense of piece and tranquility with the way the sun was reflecting on the water. Last but not least, the final photo that I took was of the water and the shoreline, a little bit down the river from the other photo. I brought the camera close to the shoreline so that it looked like I was directly on the water. I also wanted to get the natural feel of the orangish tree on the left, and I wanted to make sure to include the rocks for added detail. In terms of the mood for this one, I wanted to make sure that it continued to show a peaceful tone, while showing a few mold bold pieces to keep it interesting. When I put this on photoshop, the main tool that I used was the magic wand and the eraser tool to get rid of the background around me that I did not need. I also played with the transparency a lot to figure out which layout of the pictures worked the best so that I could see all of them as well as see myself. When people see this image, I hope they feel a sense of peace and happiness, and I hope it transports them away from the stresses of everyday life. |
Double Exposure:
Distant Memories
Compare and Contrast: Looking at these pictures side by side, I not only see my growth as a photographer, but I see in my growth as a person and a student. The difference in terms of photography between them is the fact that my second picture is not only more in focus and less blurry, but is composed better as a whole. One main thing is that in the first picture, I have the sun showing, which creates a lot of glare, taking away from the overall feel of the picture. In the second one, I used the sun to my advantage, having the background as the sunset, but not showing the sun directly. In terms of my Photoshop use, I think that the lines in the second picture are a lot more crisp, making the pictures a lot more smooth. I also think that the background adds more contrast, leading your lines to the quote and the main picture which is what I want the viewer to see. In terms of personal growth, I not only see physical changes in my selfie, but I can see a more relaxed and happy person overall. At the start of this trimester, I was nervous for new classes and a new tri, but now that this tri and this year is almost over I think I can breathe a sigh of relief knowing I got through my freshman year successfully. Overall, I think that this class has taught me a lot, and it has definitely shown in my work. I am glad that I took this class, and I had a lot of fun while learning a lot. |
