Reflection Pictures:
"Transported Through A Book"
The inspiration and idea of this picture came by accident. I was sitting in our front bay window, and noticed that there was a reflection in the window. When I saw this, I noticed that it made the object look like it was floating in the bushes because of the bushes planted on the other side of the window. Knowing that this would make a good picture, I decided to use a book, and position it so that either side of the window was mostly symmetrical. I wanted the molding in the middle to be a dividing line so that the piece would be divided, giving it more visual interest. When I was finding the title, I realized that the reflection made the book look like it was transported through the window into the bushes. Because the reflection in the right is faded, I think it looks very abstract, making it look more majestical and mysterious. Overall, I really liked how this picture turned out. I wold have to say that my favorite part of this is the contrast between the wood and the bushes because it makes it more visually pleasing. If I were to change one thing about this, I think I would have taken the blue sticky note out of the book, because not looking at it, it sort of annoys me.
Shadow Pictures:
"Candlelit Flower"
Honestly because of the weather this weekend, I was having trouble taking shadow photographs. I had so many ideas of pictures I could take with sunlight, but for some reason, I was having quite a problem finding inspiration inside. When I saw this candle holder in our kitchen, I knew that the pattern on the outside would make a really cool shadow. I went in a completely dark room, and lit the candle, making sure that the light would create on a shadow below. Now looking at this photo, I really think it looks like a flower. The candle in the middle looks more like an orb, and the holder itself, looks like the middle of a sunflower. The shadows outside the holder look like the petals, and are formed in a way that makes them look like they are outstretched. The reason I made it black and white is not only because I wanted to take out the artificial light, but because I wanted to leave more room for imagination. I feel if there are no colors in the picture to allow you to make any connections, it leaves a lot more room for creativity and individualism. Overall, I really like this photo, because of the flower like pattern I was able to make out of a simple candle holder. If I were to change one thing, I would probably have done it on a more clear surface so that the "petals" would have showed up more. Besides this, I really like how it turned out.
