For these pictures, I choose to go to Gallup park, and take them on the shoreline by the river. The reason that I choose to do them at this specific place, is because of the natural feel that the miscellaneous branches and rocks give off. Also, I really wanted to be able to incorporate the water, because I like the reflections and shadows that it is able to give off. The mood that I was going for with these pictures was a very calming feeling, because that is what I feel when I see these kinds of views by rivers or other bodies of water. I wanted to make sure that along with this, the pictures had enough complexity to make them look professional, but were not too busy that they were overwhelming. Overall, I like how both of these pictures turned out, although I wish that I could have been able to make the contrast a bit more prominent even with the filters that I needed to put on. I would have to say my favorite thing about these two pictures is the fact that in both pictures, the trees' shadows show in the water, because I think it adds more sensory as well as some more physical dimension.
For these two pictures, I decided to go to Dicken Woods, which is right near my house. The reason that I choose this place, is not only because it is a nature preserve type place, but because the types of nature that you can find there varies a lot based on where you go. On the left, I took the picture of a place in the woods that had flooded from all of the rain that we have been getting the past few weeks. I wanted to focus in on one thing in the photo, so I decided to choose this plant, because it has the most vibrant and contrasting colors in the whole scene. Also, just like the last pictures, I wanted to be able to see the reflection in the water, which I did with the blue sky that you can see in parts of the picture. As far as the right picture, I choose to do it of this tree at the entrance of the woods, because of the pretty orange that the leaves were. I also wanted to show contrasting colors here, so I decided to show the leaves with the sky, and also show a cool angle of where the tree was in relation to the boarders of the picture. Overall, the mood that I wanted to give these pictures was a springy type feel, and I think that with the colors I choose and how I presented them, I did just that.
To take these pictures, I went to the woods next to my old school, Honey Creek. As I was walking through the woods, I first noticed, that all trees would make very cool silhouettes compared to the bright blue sky. When I took this picture, I knew that I wanted to make sure that the trees turned out as dark as they possibly could, as well as make sure that I highlighted many different shades of blue throughout the sky. For the second picture, I knew that I wanted to show texture with the photo, which is why I made sure that I focused in on the bark of this particular tree. I then wanted to get the same natural woodsy feeling in the background, so I made sure that I could see other trees, although I blurred them so they would not be in focus. Overall, I wanted to really show the beauty of nature with these photos, meaning I wanted to take them from viewpoints that people don't often take time to look at and notice. If I could have done anything different with these two, I would probably have tried to make the right picture more contrasting, although overall I am pretty happy with both of them.
For these pictures, I went to Lily Park, which turned out to mean more to me than just nature. As a little kid, I used to go to Lily Park all the time to go fishing with my grandparents. I have very fond memories of sitting on the dock waiting for fish to come, or running up and down the paths tiring myself out. As I took these pictures, I wanted to make them special to my me and my memories, so the one on the left I took from the path, and the one on the right I took from the dock. The one on the left, I wanted to have the water blurred in the background, meaning I wanted to focus in on one thing. Because this plant had such a unique texture, I decided that I would use it to focus on, making sure the water and the trees were still viewable in the background. Because to was such a sunny day, I really wanted to show the different colors that were showing in the water. I decided to take a picture of just mostly the water, because I really wanted to show the ombre effect, and not obstruct it with any other plants or things. Overall, the mood that I wanted to capture in these photos is happiness and thankfulness. I wanted to these pictures to remind me of fond memories that I have with my grandparents, as well as give the viewers some of these feelings too.
Last but not least, I knew that I wanted one of my places to be my house, which worked out pretty well because of where we live. Next to our house, there is a small park, with beautiful and large pine trees. I knew that because I do live in the city, these would be the best places to take my photos, but I knew that I would need a interesting angle to take them in. For the picture on the left, I was standing at the bottom of the tree, when I realized there was a squirreled right on top of me. I adjusted my position so that he would be in my picture as well as blend in to the tree, and I was lucky enough that he stayed long enough to be in my picture. For the one on the right, I really wanted to show the tops of the pine trees, because of the pretty colors that the needles were. I made sure to fill a lot of the photo with the tree, and to keep it simple, I left the rest of the background as the pretty blue sky. For these two pictures, I really wanted to show off the true happiness and brightness of spring, while also showing something unexpected (the squirrel). If there was one criticism that I would give these pictures, it would be that the one on the right got a bit blurry from the filter that I put on it, but besides that, I really like how they turned out.
