"Blossoms of Love"
The reason I choose to take this picture, is because it reminded me a lot of happiness and love, which is something we really need in the world right now. In the entire picture before it was cropped, the flowers was in the center of the heart created by the metal. The reason I cropped it the way that I did, was so that you could get the feeling of the heart, but it would be more organic and original feeling. I decided to give the heart the most color is because I thought the heart could symbolize happiness and love, and the bright color could show it shining through the darkness and sadness of the rest of the black and white picture. Overall this symbolizes that no matter how hard of a time it is, if you keep hope and happiness you will get through it and once again life will be positive.

"Patterned Maize"
The reason I decided to take this picture, is because since a really young kid, I have grown up loving the University of Michigan. For the past few years, I have had women's basketball and softball tickets, and I have loved going to the games with my family. When I saw this shot, I knew it would be cool to have the flags be the only thing in color, making them stand out more at first glance. When I started to edit the picture, I knew I wanted to give color to more than one flag, but I didn't want to give too much power, so it wouldn't be overwhelming. I decided to do every other one, because I found that the contrast along with the leading lines above the flag not only gives the picture more complexity, but leads your eyes down the picture, making you see every small detail.

"Once Upon a Leaf"
To be honest, this picture was a bit of an accident. I was walking across the lawn, and saw this leaf not thinking much of it. I then realized the true pattern that all of the lines have, and I thought that having it be the only thing in color, would bring them out even more. When trying to name this picture, I knew the main points that I felt were interesting, but honestly I was very stuck. When I showed it to my grandpa, the first thing he though of was "Once Upon a Leaf", which I immediately laughed at. I then realized, that it is a prefect title, seeing as though it sounds very simple upon your first glance, but has more detail and becomes more sophisticated, the more you dig deeper. I think that not only is this a perfect idea to portray in thee title, but it is a perfect life lesson, going along with the theme that you can never judge a book by its cover.

"Springtime Happiness"
When I saw these flowers and the colors that they had, I knew that they were the perfect ones for this picture. When it gets closer to school being out, and everything starts to bloom I feel more happiness in the air. I always feel like bright colors symbolize happiness, and when I saw these flowers, I imagined that a burst of happiness was shooting right up out of the ground. I decided that I wanted to have both of the flowers have the bright color, because having two of them together shows the power of friendship and the power of having someone else to make you smile and laugh. I really like that I was able to incorporate this much contrast into the photo, because I think it really leads your eye towards the picture giving it more visual appeal.

"Perfectly Purple"
The main reason I choose to do this picture, was because of thee pretty shades of purple in the flowers. I have shown a lot of brighter and more contrasting colors, but for this one, I wanted to show a more calm color. The mood I was trying to set with this picture, was relaxation and calmness, because especially at a stressful time close to finals, I realize that I need to take more time to myself to calm down and relax. With this color scheme, there is still a bit of contrast, but not as much, giving it a more laid back feel. I would have to say the hardest part of doing this picture was trying to erase all of the small little areas, while still making them look crisp and clean. Overall I think I did this pretty well, although I wish the purple color could have been a bit more prominent.
